Windows 7 – XP Mode – Preparing Your Computer

Before you can run XP Mode on Windows 7 you must determine if your PC’s CPU supports hardware virtualization.  Securable is a handy dandy tool you can use to find out.  After downloading the tool, simply run it (no installation required) and it will tell you what you need to know.

If Hardware Virtualization says “NO” then you are out of luck.  Your PC will not support XP Mode.  However, if it says “OFF” in some form or another, then you simply have to enable hardware virtualization in your system BIOS.  If you find a BIOS setting referring to VTx or VTd, this is the setting that needs to be enabled.
